Hydroponics (From the Greek words hydro, water and ponos, labor) is a method of growing plants using mineral nutrient solutions, in water, without soil. Terrestrial plants may be grown with their roots in the mineral nutrient solution only or in an inert medium, such as perlite, gravel, mineral wool, or coconut husk.

Researchers discovered in the 19th century that plants absorb essential mineral nutrients as inorganic ions in water. In natural conditions, soil acts as a mineral nutrient reservoir but the soil itself is not essential to plant growth. When the mineral nutrients in the soil dissolve in water, plant roots are able to absorb them. When the required mineral nutrients are introduced into a plant's water supply artificially, soil is no longer required for the plant to thrive. Almost any terrestrial plant will grow with hydroponics. Hydroponics is also a standard technique in biology research and teaching.

BTW! Sylvia here! Last week some of us have been staying back after sch to look after the plants. it is located at the NRG hub! :D not only us.. The WHOLE 2ec have to do it! al u have to do is... Check the PH value for nutrients.. if not enough, then u guys have to go find Miss Ong S C.. Get the Nutrients from her..
if everything is fine.. u guys have to record done remarks on the plant. then sign ur name in the File given to u~ Ok. i will explain in SIMPILE TERMS!

-EVERYDAY!-

Task 1) Straight away after sch, Go to Miss Ong S C's Pegion Hole & take a yellow colour paper/ plastic bag, which contain some equiments & 2 files~
Task 2) Go to the general office & ask 4 the key to the hydroponics~
Task 3) Process to the NRG Hub, Open the Door & get ready the testers.
Task 4) Test the Water in the tank. & record the values for both farms.
Task 5) Add remarks abt the plant, eg, The Seedlings are growing healthy. They are getting taller each day.
Task 6) Sign Ur Name on both Files~
Task 7) WASH the testers! Dont Put the WHOLE testers in to water.. Just the place where u put the tester in the tank.
Task 8) DRY the testers up & keep them where u took them out from.
Task 9) Put the paper/plastic bag back into miss ong's hole!
& FINISH! LOL.. Easy rite? :3

-WAT MUST U DO WHEN THE PH VAULES GO UNDER 600?-

Task 1) Go Find Miss Ong & ask her for the Nutrients
Task 2) Process to the Bio lab at lvl 2 & ask the auntys to get the items 4 u.
or maybe miss ong will be there & she will help u get the items.
Items need: 4 measuring jars. 2 spoon. 4 mixer. Weighing machine
Task 3) put the Weighing machine at the comfortable place 4 u & press the restart button. DONT MOVE THE WEIGHING MACHINE AT ALL NOW.
Task 4) use the spoon to add the Nutrients in.. It is label-ed that.. A goes in the A jar & B goes in the B Jar. Add the Nutrients to 50grams. (DO TIS FOR BOTH A & B. U MUST HAVE 2[A] & 2[B] JARS IN THE END)
Task 5) Add water to the 4 jars to 1500ml.. DO NOT OVER ADD WATER!
Task 6) Mix them well~
Task 7) wash all unwanted items up like the Spoon & the Mixer..
Task 8) Proceed to the NRG Hub & pour 1 Jar of Nutrients A & 1 jar of Nutrients B in each tank.
Task 9) Test 4 the PH value & Reocord it.. & agn. Write the Remarks on the plant.
Task 10) Wash all the equiments up & put them back frm where u get them.
